The children in our school learn best by doing. We encourage exploration of the world around them by using all of their senses.
Our curriculum identifies and emphasizes all areas of development:
Social– to help children feel comfortable in school, trust their environment, make friends, and feel part of a group.
Emotional– to help children experience pride and self-confidence, develop independence and self control, and have a positive attitude.
Cognitive– to help children become confident learners by letting them try out their ideas and experience success. Learning to solve problems, ask questions, expand their vocabulary and understanding.
Physical – to help children increase their gross motor and fine motor skills and feel confident in their own body.
As teachers we watch and listen and encourage whatever the children are thinking and trying to do. We help the children to become aware of their actions and encourage them to think further.
Our curriculum works best when teachers and families work together. Exploring and learning at home and at school is our goal.
“We are shaped and fashioned by what we love”
Our Early Childhood Center offers a non-sectarian program, which welcomes children of all religions and ethnic backgrounds. We believe this promotes a healthier awareness and respect for individual differences in all our children. The Church in the Highland’s Early Childhood Center is a place where children feel at home. We provide support and guidance in an atmosphere of loving care and concern. Our school helps the child discover themselves and find security with their peers and new adult friends.
